How to Upgrade to Intrepid Ibex
This guide will show you how to go about upgrading to Intrepid Ibex (Ubuntu 8.10) from a previous version of Ubuntu. It’s important that you follow a sequential upgrade path. That is, you should only follow these directions to upgrade from Hardy to Intrepid.
When you are ready to upgrade, open Update Manager from the System > Administration window. Don’t have Synaptic or apt running when you do this, or it won’t work. Refresh the packages, and click the Distribution Upgrade button at the top to start upgrading to Intrepid Ibex.
It generally takes an hour or two to download and install all the packages. When your computer restarts, the process is over.
